Small Moments, Big God

“Be still, and know that I am God” – Palms 46:10

Today, I sat by the pond during my lunch break. Just me, the breeze, the water, and the soft rustle of trees. It wasn’t anything grand… no worship music, no journal in hand, no lightning-bolt revelations. Just stillness.

But in that small moment, I felt Him.

God didn’t need a mountaintop to meet me. He didn’t need me to be in a church pew or praying perfectly. He just needed my heart open. And in that quiet corner of my busy day, He whispered, “I’m here.”

It’s funny, isn’t it? How we spend so much of our lives searching for big signs, waiting for huge moments of clarity or purpose…when so often, the presence of God shows up in the smallest ways:
-A gentle breeze that cools the anxiety in your chest.
-A bird that lands nearby, just long enough to feel like a wink from Heaven.
-Sunlight dancing on water like God is smiling.
– Even a moment of peace in the middle of a hectic workday.

I think we miss Him when we assume He only moves in miracles. But I’m learning, slowly, that the ordinary is sacred too.

So if today feels plain or small, don’t dismiss it. That “nothing special” moment might just be the doorway to everything holy.

Because our God? He’s the Master of showing up in the mundane. And He delights in meeting us there.

A prayer for small moments

Lord,
Slow my heart today. Help me notice the beauty in the ordinary and the sacred in the simple. Teach me to hear Your voice not just in thunder, but in the stillness. Remind me that You are near, even when life feels routine. May I find You in the sunlight, the quiet, the laughter, the pause. And may I never be too busy to be still and know… that You are God. In Jesus name, Amen
