Today’s church service was about something so simple, yet so powerful.
God wants you.
Not your achievements.
Not your good behavior.
Not your offerings.
Not what you can give Him.
He wants you.
One verse that my pastor really focused on was 2 Corinthians 12:14, where Paul says:
“I do not seek what is yours, but you.”
That reflects the very heart of God.
So often we think we have to bring something impressive to God. We think He wants our works, our effort, our performance. But the truth is… God already owns everything.
He isn’t after what we have. He’s after our hearts. The realization that my pastor said and it really hit me today was this:
God doesn’t want my stuff. He wants me.
And that honestly brought me to tears. Because when you really stop and think about it, it’s overwhelming. The Creator of the universe doesn’t just tolerate us. He desires a relationship with us.
He wants us in our best moments.
He wants us in our worst moments.
He wants us when we feel strong in our faith.
He wants us when we feel weak and broken.
My pastor also mentioned Psalm 23. It reminds us that God is our Shepherd. He walks with us through green pastures and through the valley of the shadow of death.
He doesn’t leave. He stays. And the reason we know this is true is because of the cross. God gave everything because He wanted us.
Jesus didn’t die so we could simply perform religious duties. He died so we could be brought back into relationship with our Father.
That’s why the word Abba is so meaningful to me. I often address God in my personal prayers as such. And it is because…
It’s not distant.
It’s not formal.
It’s personal.
It’s the cry of a child who knows they belong.
And today I was reminded of something my heart needed to hear again: God doesn’t just love me. He chose me. And He wants me.

Reflection
Take a moment to sit with this truth.
Do you ever feel like you have to prove yourself to God? Like you need to bring something impressive before coming to Him?
The Gospel reminds us that God is not seeking what is ours. He is seeking us.
He wants your heart.
Your presence.
Your honesty.
Even in your broken moments.
So today, instead of asking “What can I give God?” try asking: “Am I giving Him my heart?”
Because that’s what He wanted all along.
Prayer
Abba,
Thank You for reminding me today that You don’t want what I have, You want me.
So often I come to You thinking I need to bring something. My effort, my strength, my good behavior. But today You reminded me that what You truly desire is my heart.
Help me to come to You honestly and humbly, without pretending or performing. Teach me to rest in the truth that I am wanted, chosen, and loved by You.
Thank You for sending Jesus so that I could be brought close to You again. Thank You for being my Shepherd, walking with me through both the good moments and the hard ones.
Today I give You my heart again.
Amen.
