Demonstrate Your Faith

The royal official said, "Sir, come down before my child dies."
"Go," Jesus replied, "your son will live."
The man took Jesus at his word and departed.
John 4:49-50

The man took Jesus at his word. Wow. Can you imagine? Think about it. How often have you been able to take someone at their word, only to be let down?!

I do not know about you, but I find that hard to do. Take someone at their word. I have been let down so much. That honestly, when people give me their word, I do not believe them. Not until I see it. I am a very “actions speak louder than words” type of girl. So for the royal official to take Jesus at his word and depart! Especially when it is regarding his dying son. Mind blown.

He took Jesus at his word and walked away.

How can you do that? How can you believe someone’s words? It takes faith, and at times it feels like a whole lot of it!

But here is the thing. Faith grows the more we use it. And it’s not like we have to take just anyone’s word. It’s Jesus we’re talking about. It’s Jesus we’re putting this faith into. We know we can trust him right? We can believe Jesus will, can’t we?

Not only did the royal official take Jesus at his word, though. He departed. Not only did he believe Jesus when Jesus told him his son won’t die. He left Jesus as if his son was already healed!

So let me ask you. You believe Jesus can, right? But do you act as if he can? Do you demonstrate your faith? Faith grows as we use it.

When you pray, and you hear God’s answer. Don’t just believe his Word and wait for it to happen. Act as if it already has happened. The more you use your faith, the more your faith will grow.
